Mazovia Book Academy

mak2009_www_min The Mazovia Book Academy is a contest for a publication on the history, tradition and culture of Mazovia, including Warsaw. The awards are given to such works whose publication, due to their not-for-profit character, would be impossible without additional funding.

The end result of the project, which is to span many years, will be a collection of valuable books dedicated to Mazovia. In every edition of the contest, the jury chooses three (exceptionally four) books, whose authors are awarded the prize – Mazovian Poppies. These books are then printed by the Mazovia Region Centre of Culture and Arts in a series entitled “The Mazovia Book Academy”, and their authors receive royalties.

Our assumption is that the long-term result of the contest will be a cultural library of Mazovia – a collection of books whose subject is related to the region and Warsaw, published as part of a series with the common name “Mazovia Book Academy”. Up until now, in four editions of the contest, which took place in the years 2004-2007, close to 130 works were submitted in the contest, out of which 10 appeared in print, 9 within the framework of the series “Mazovia Book Academy”.
